Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-04-23
LocalArchive is a local-first Chrome extension for saving pages and selected text into the user's browser profile.
Data Processed
LocalArchive may process page titles, page URLs and domains, selected text, extracted readable page text, author or excerpt metadata, capture time, tags, word count, imported Pocket CSV rows, and imported JSON backup data when the user explicitly captures or imports that data.
Storage and Network Use
Archive data is stored locally in the user's Chrome profile with IndexedDB. Exported Markdown, HTML, and JSON files are created only when the user clicks an export button. The extension does not send captured pages, selected text, imports, exports, search queries, or archive metadata to a server.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and Limited Use
LocalArchive's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The extension uses user data only to provide its single purpose: local page capture, local archive search, user-controlled import, and user-controlled export.
No Sale, Ads, or Third-Party Transfer
No ads are included. No analytics endpoint is included. No sale of user data occurs. No captured content is transferred to third parties. A human will not read user archive data except if the user voluntarily provides it in a support, legal, or security request.
Permissions
LocalArchive uses activeTab, scripting, and context-menu activation so page access happens only after a user action. It does not request browsing history, cookies, extension management, storage, or broad host permissions.
Deletion and Retention
Users can delete saved items from the LocalArchive library. Users can also remove all extension data through Chrome's extension storage controls by removing the extension or clearing extension data for the profile.
Support
Use LocalArchive support for support and privacy questions.
